Loose Diamonds For Sale
Loose Diamonds For Sale
It’s now Mar 10, 2010, do you have all your Christmas Shopping done?
With the ever-growing abundance of diamond stores and jewelry shops, high quality loose diamonds for sale are easier to find – with one caveat: compare apples to apples! Now I can think of many metaphors to help you understand what I mean, such as “you get what you pay for”, but when it comes to lose diamond, you have to compare “like diamonds”.
For example, if you found a .50 carat, round diamond that was E color and VVSI quality, then you should really only compare it to another diamond of the same carat weight, cut, color and quality (the 4 Cs).
Shopping for diamonds online can be a very pleasurable and rewarding experience, and if you are careful and do some simple research (which you can do right here), then it can also be a trouble
free experience as well.
Why do people purchase loose diamonds?
People buy loose diamonds for many reasons. For example, someone may have a beautiful setting that they were given from someone in the family, say a grandmother’s ring, and they just want to update their diamonds. Or you may have found a nice setting at one store, but either the diamond quality or prices were not to your liking.
In fact, we get many customers who either have existing settings or find settings at other jewelers, but because they are not diamond importers, they cannot get the size, cut, clarity or color that they really desire – at a savings anyway.
Using the Internet to shop for loose diamonds allows you to make an informed decision because it allows you to make that “apples to apples” comparison that I mentioned earlier. As long as you compare diamonds of the same class (the 4 Cs, remember?), then you can make a good decision.
Should I Get An EGL Certified Diamond or GIA Certified Diamond or a Loose Diamond With No Certification?
This is a personal choice. Sure, there will be up-scaled jewelers who state: “you must purchase a GIA Certified Diamond”. You don’t have to do anything of the sort. Each diamond has a beauty in and of itself. You may find a gorgeous 75 point, Princess Cut loose diamond that is G color, but not certified. You fall in love with the way it looks, the way it sets in your setting, or for whatever reason. But if you are torn about whether the diamond is certified or not, ask your jeweler what guarantee they offer on their diamonds.
Any reputable jeweler will guarantee that their diamonds will certify at a particular color, clarity, etc. Also, if you are purchasing a wholesale diamond, your diamond should appraise much higher than a diamond purchased at a retail store that was “certified”, but you settled for a lesser quality or color just because you wanted a certified diamond.
With the economy the way it is today, there are lots and lots of jewelers who have an excess of inventory. Purchasing a loose diamond is one of the best ways to save a great deal of money, yet you can get a larger, higher quality diamond that you will cherish forever.
